Album Spotlight 4/9/13

Evanescence’s Origin.

Origin, the 3^rd major collection of EPs prior to Fallen. The album was released  November 4^th, 2000. As one of the pre-Fallen era “albums” made, minus from demos. Prior to Origin there was Sound Asleep EP and Evanescence EP made in 1998 and 1999 respectively. As Amy was 16/17 at the time of Evanescence EP. Origin had only 2500 copies made altogether.

   Amy considers Origin as a collection of demos put together for record companies to listen to. Also earlier versions of My Immortal, Whisper, and Imaginary are found in this collection; despite these versions are not the oldest versions out there. Catherine/Faixa  Five was supposed to be on Origin as well, but didn’t make the cut.

 There are differences between the real version of Origin and bootlegs. The originals have watermarks to discourage bootlegging. Another difference between real and fake Origin is that the actual version, if you listen to the first track off of the cd and rewind it to -0:24, you’ll get an outtake from the song “Anywhere.” As the bootleg version does not. The message that is being said is

                “ There’s a lot of prejudice against the undead”

Amy and David were messing around with the song Anywhere.

The actual non- bootleg fake includes Missing, Heart Shaped Box, and a crappy remix of Bring Me to Life.

Listen to the Rain was supposed to be on Origin, mixed with Eternal and Demise. Pre-Releases included this song (which I have the digital version of the original Origin) [well sort of. I have Eternal/Demise regular and then the Alternate version of Away from Me/Eternal/Listen to the Rain/Demise. And I have the outtake as well.]
